James "J.C" Hamm

SANDUSKY — James C. "J.C." (Bob) Hamm, 77, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Friday morning, Sept. 24, 2021, at his residence. He was born Nov. 11, 1943, in Coeburn, Virginia. After serving in the U.S. Army, J.C. had worked in Romulus, Michigan, for a short time, moving to Sandusky in 1965. He was employed by Norfolk Southern Railroad for thirty years prior to retirement. He was a member of the Sandusky Eagles, AMVETS Post 17, American Legion Post 83 and NARVRE Unit 147. His grandson's Travis and Bub were his pride and joy. His hobbies included gardening and fishing. He was a true sportsman and loved Ohio State football and the Cleveland Cavaliers. J.C. played in the Erie County Dartball League for M&M Tavern and then Third Base for many years. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol A. (Lippert) Hamm; one son, Brian (Linda) Hamm of Sandusky; two grandsons, Travis Hamm of Sandusky, and Trevor (Rachel Kashian) Hamm of Norwalk; one brother and his wife, Donald "Ray" and Patricia Hamm of Hockingport, Ohio; one sister, Peggy Carico of Clintwood, Virginia; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Della Mae (Lawson) Hamm. Friends may call from 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021, at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Eric Bodenstab will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
