HURON — Firelands Scientific hosted its first Bald is Beautiful event on Monday — coinciding with National Bald is Beautiful Day — at its main campus facility, which specializes in medical marijuana, in Huron. Attendees going through cancer treatments or other life-changing illnesses could receive: • Massages from those representing Integrative Massotherapy and 4 the Love of Reiki & Massage • Head shaving/hair trimmings and makeup application from Mane & Hayes Hair Studio in Sandusky • Photos from Jon Roan Photography • A flower bouquet from Bliss Floral Designs and Sweet Pea Flower Truck • Earrings from Paper Kite Designs • Sandwiches from Berardi's Family Restaurant "It was the ultimate evening of pampering, completely complimentary, and Firelands Scientific had several cancer survivors — and one fighter — join them," company spokeswoman Meaghan Earley said. "What makes this event so special is the number of local businesses that are partnering with us to help and give back to those who are undergoing cancer treatment," Earley said. "Additionally, it's beautiful to offer women and men the opportunity to be pampered and to see the light during a dark time in their lives. Individuals can come and meet others who are going through a similar situation in life and realize they're not alone in their fight. It's an incredibly beautiful event."
