342 new COVID cases in Huron County

NORWALK — In Huron County, there were 342 new cases of COVID-19 from Sept 3-9. The highest number of cases were reported in the 11- to 20-year-old age group. Currently, all Huron County ZIP codes are reporting cases, with the highest incidence in Willard. Last week's case count was 260 in the county. As of Sept. 8, Huron County remains at a high level of transmission. With high transmission, CDC is recommending even individuals who are fully vaccinated to wear a mask in public indoor settings. To date, Huron County Public Health has reported a total of 6,798 cases. COVID-19 is currently circulating through all communities in Huron County. Huron County currently ranks 21st among all Ohio counties for a two-week incidence rate. Last week, Huron County ranked 24th, demonstrating the increase in COVID-19 cases in Huron County. Huron County Public Health currently has the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine available for appointments at the health department offices in Norwalk. Bring a valid ID and insurance information to your vaccination appointment; there will be no out-of-pocket cost to individuals. Individuals must be 12 years and older to receive the Pfizer vaccine and 18 years and older to receive the Moderna vaccine.
