Funeral information for Soviak released

MILAN TWP. — The funeral home entrusted with Maxton Soviak's arrangements released information on Tuesday about his upcoming visitation and services: • From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, people can visit the Edison High School Field House, 2603 Ohio 113 E., Milan. • At 11 a.m. on Monday, funeral services will take place at Edison High School. A private burial will follow. Condolences and more information can be found by visiting mormanfuneralhome.com. Soviak, 22, died Aug. 26 while serving his country. The 2017 Edison High School graduate, who also attended EHOVE Career Center, was a sailor assigned to the 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California. He was killed during an attack at the Abbey Gates of Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, while supporting Operation Allies Refuge. Soviak died along with 12 other U.S. members of the Armed Forces. He died helping evacuate Americans and Afghan citizens, including children, at risk of being killed by the Taliban. As a result of his brave actions in support of his fellow service members and mission, the Navy proudly posthumously advanced Soviak to the rank of Hospital Corpsman Third Class on Sept. 2, 2021.
