'Erie County Opoly' available for purchase

SANDUSKY — The United Way of Erie County along with some community businesses created a "Monopoly"-style board game to celebrate local businesses throughout Erie County. It's called "Erie County Opoly." The board game is played just like the original "Monopoly" game. But instead of seeing spaces for Boardwalk and Park Place, for example, you will see local businesses you know and frequent or may discover new ones that you can visit and get to know. The board game turned out beautiful, and the game pieces represent Erie County. You can be a sailboat, a fish, eagle, tractor, sailboat, coffee mug or a wine/beer barrel. This game is not only fun to enjoy on family game night, but it's a great conversation piece as you talk or remember when you visited some of these local businesses. This game would not have been made possible without the generosity of each business sponsoring a spot on the board. The "Erie County Opoly" board game will make a great gift this holiday season. As a thank you to the game board sponsors, the United Way of Erie County hosted a reception on Wednesday, at DeMore's Offshore Bar & Grill on West Perkins Avenue. Owner Tracy Hiss, one of the game board sponsors, along with her daughter, Chelsea, and son, Nicholas, hosted the event. A huge thank you to them. The food was fantastic. It was a great opportunity to bring some local businesses together for an evening, creating a community atmosphere and an opportunity to collaborate on future events. Our game has shown us the community spirit of Erie County and its businesses are alive and well. The evening was fun, and it felt good to see local businesses come together and reconnect after some long-isolated times. Come get your "Erie County Opoly" games before they are gone.
