Woman charged with felony assault

A Sandusky woman was charged with felonious assault after sending a woman to the hospital. Celia D. Wallace, 37, was arrested Sunday evening by Sandusky police for allegedly causing a serious head injury to another woman in the 100 block of Perry St. According to a police report, officers responded the call just after 4 p.m. to find several people standing outside of a residence. One woman was observed to be bleeding from the head. Officers were told Wallace had been drinking all day and was highly intoxicated. A witness stated she had been causing issues with other residents. The witness told officers Wallace had left to buy more alcohol and, upon returning, began yelling at people, asking where her beer was. In an altercation with one woman, Wallace allegedly "approached her and grabbed her around the neck," before pushing her back, the report noted. The woman fell backward from the push and struck the back of her head on the concrete. Due to the injury being on the victim's head, officers were unable to properly see the wound through her hair. The woman was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center for treatment after learning her wound required "several staples" to close the charge was raised to a felony. When asked about the incident, Wallace was unforthcoming and told police she was upset about other unrelated issues. She told officers to "just take me to jail," according to the report. Wallace was taken to Erie County Jail. Officers recommend she be placed on a no-bond order as she and the victim live in the same residence. As of late Monday, she remains locked up on the second-degree felony charge.
