One dead in Sandusky

SANDUSKY — A Sandusky man, Elisha Cannon, was shot to death Saturday morning, and police are seeking information on what happened. Police received multiple calls at about 10:15 a.m. (Saturday) morning "about multiple gunshots in the 1600 block of S. Larchmont Drive," Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver said. When officers arrived at the scene they found Cannon, 34, in a vehicle in a driveway at 1645 S. Larchmont Drive. He had been shot multiple time, the chief said. "He died at the hospital as a result of his injuries," Oliver said. Cannon apparently was doing stonework at a house in the neighborhood when he was attacked, Oliver said. Officers are searching for a black Ford automobile with four doors that may have been involved with the shooting, Oliver said. "We believe the suspect fled from the area in that vehicle," Oliver said. Police officers, including both detectives and patrol officers, were busy over the weekend conducting interviews and searching for additional clues. Oliver said 9mm shell casings were recovered from the shooting scene. The police chief said Sunday that the investigation is continuing. "The detectives are still conducting interviews," he said. An autopsy will be carried out Monday by the Lucas County Coroner, he said. Police don't have any suspects yet. "We have impounded the vehicle he (Cannon) was located in," Oliver said.
