3 arrested outside of Cedar Point

SANDUSKY — Three people were charged with crimes, including two for child endangerment offenses, in relation to an incident taking place just after 4 p.m. Monday on Cedar Point Drive. Officers representing Sandusky's and Cedar Point's forces responded to the incident involving three people from Michigan: two spouses along with Michael W. Dhans, 30. A Chevy driven by Dhans struck concrete barriers when making a turn, according to a Sandusky police report. The spouses were also at the scene and apparently drove in a separate vehicle. Upon briefly speaking with each of them, Sandusky police Lt. Danny Lewis wrote, "I suspected that all three subjects were under the influence of a narcotic." During a search of Dhans' car, officers allegedly found a plastic container containing a $1 bill with a white residue on it. At this time, officers charged Dhans with a misdemeanor-level operating a vehicle under the influence charge and for drug possession, a fifth-degree felony. Then, upon searching the siblings' car, officers located a marijuana cigarette in the center console and a partial one in the pocket behind the passenger's seat. They also allegedly found 19 Alprazolam pills in the woman's wallet. Officers then charged the husband with operating a vehicle under the influence and child endangering. They also charged the woman with drug possession and child endangering. All of these charges were classified as misdemeanors. The husband's "was for driving the three girls around while he was under the influence of a narcotic, and (the wife's) charge stems from her being under the influence of a narcotic and not be(ing) able to care for the girls," the report read. It's not known the relationship between the husband, the wife and the three girls. All three adults were booked into the Erie County Jail shortly thereafter and have since been released.
