Our defeat in the Philippines was the worst since Washington D.C. was captured by the British in the War of 1812."50 years ago, 1967: The Supreme Court voted unanimously that laws banning biracial marriages are unconstitutional. The 9-0 decision came in a case involving Richard Loving, a white construction worker, and his Negro-Indian wife Mildred. The Lovings carried that case to the Supreme Court. The court ruled that a state may not prohibit marriages between Negroes and whites.
