Go on a 'Lake Erie Adventure'

HURON — The exploration options seem endless. Whether it's kayaking down Mudbrook, paddleboarding through the Huron River or bicycling into downtown, a new business encourages people to interact with nature in many different ways. It's the concept epitomizing Lake Erie Adventure Co.'s spirit and a lifestyle adopted by the business co-owners, spouses Justin and Lisa Brady. "We're all about fostering the love for the outdoors for both locals and tourists," Lisa said. "Our family is very outdoorsy — we take our kids to national parks every summer, and we love the water — and we wanted to share that love with the community." Justin and Lisa — parents of daughters Bailey, 10; Ellie, 6; and Willow, 4 — recently opened up their Huron-based company on River Road just off Cleveland Road (U.S. 6) right over the railroad tracks. "This has been Lisa's dream for a long time," Justin said. "It's something she has always wanted to do, and it was the perfect opportunity for us." After spending the past few months transforming a former garage, they debuted Lake Erie Adventure Co. inside a 2,000-square-foot log cabin-like building in an area adjacent to Whispering Walleye. Open seven days a week, people can pop in to rent or buy kayaks, paddleboards and either traditional or electric bicycles. From there, riders can go on solo trips or gather up for group outings, which the company promotes beforehand. "There is certainly a need for people to gather and do outdoor activities," Lisa said. Additionally, the company offers many lines of outdoor clothing, ranging from fishing shirts to hiking pants and even water shoes. The Bradys also sell Lake Erie Adventure's own brand of merchandise on sweatshirts and water bottles. "Our gear sets us apart," Lisa said. "Our clothing and our fleet are all top of the line. With a good product, our customers will have a great experience, will love the outdoors even more and come back." The Bradys, who reside in Huron, strategically wanted this specific location. The boat launch area allows people easy access to the area's three main waterways: the Huron River, Lake Erie and Mudbrook. And it's not far from downtown, Nickel Plate Beach and other local landmarks, where people can pass by on their two-wheeled travels. "It's great that way," Justin said. "We want to give the best guest experience for every single person every single time they come here."
