SANDUSKY — It's bag it time for Rally's — and not in the sense of getting a Big Buford and fries to go.The fast-food restaurant chain located on East Perkins Avenue closed in recent days to make way for Kroger's impending gas station.Supermarket executives want to relocate the pumps from Kroger's old premises, on West Perkins Avenue by KFC, to its current property.Perkins Township administrator Gary Boyle confirmed the move, adding Kroger acquired a permit to build a gas station.It's not known when the new gas station could open.Meanwhile, in related news:• It's not known whether Rally's will open a new restaurant anywhere in Sandusky or the surrounding area. • Discount Drug Mart, on East Perkins Avenue near Kroger, won't relocate to its new spot on Milan Road (U.S. 250) until sometime this summer.• The Denny's on Milan Road (U.S. 250) also closed this past week.Reach reporter Andy Ouriel at ouriel@sanduskyregister.com and follow him on Twitter @AndyOuriel.Pre-demolition work recently began to tear down the former Rally's restaurant on East Perkins Avenue near Kroger.
