Perkins proud to graduate 148

PERKINS TWP. — Before they received their diplomas, flipped their tassels and tossed their caps high into the sky, Perkins High School's 148 graduating seniors listened to some savvy advice given by their classmates. "Don't let anything get in your way," class president Julia Stanfield said. "Have that carefree spirit of your 5-year-old self and believe you can do anything. Wherever you go, a piece of PHS will always be with you." Friends, family members and supporters showed up for Perkins High School's commencement ceremony Monday afternoon, on Memorial Day, at the district's football stadium. "I hope each and every one of you knows how much of an impact you had," said senior speaker Kamryn Ohly, who's attending Harvard in the fall, only the third student in Perkins' history to do so. "Look back on these last four years with pride, love and nostalgia while you're out there continuing to change the world." During the ceremony, classmates and administrators paid tribute to two former students, Stone Ambos and Spencer Rumer, who died in 2018 and 2019, respectively. "Forever in our hearts; always loved, always missed," according to a statement prepared by seniors.
