'Pull the lever, Kronk'

SANDUSKY — Who in the world would want to climb several flights of stairs to be locked in a tube and dropped out of a tower?I would. And I did. And I can't wait to do it again.Although I grew up mostly in Sandusky, it's been years since I visited Cedar Point's water park. So when the opportunity arose to check it out after its remodel and revamp, I jumped on it.New to Cedar Point Shores this year is Point Plummet. As a thrill seeker, the concept of a free-fall water slide fascinated me, so I had to don my water gear and give it a go. The 6-story trek up wasn't too bad of a climb — mostly because I was distracted by the amazing view it offered of Cedar Point, the beach and all of Cedar Point Shores. You can see everything, and it's amazing.Once at the top, you choose between one of four colorful capsules. It was very "Emperor's New Groove"-like, and I just wanted to yell, "Pull the lever, Kronk!"Instead, I climbed in, crossed my legs and my arms and looked down at the see-through floor. My heart pounded in my chest as I heard a deep voice countdown.Three. Two. One. Drop!Warm water rushed over my entire body, and I free fell into an enclosed tunnel that twisted and turned all the way back down to the ground and out of the tunnel in a giant splash.Although it's been years since I visited the water park, I will definitely be a frequent guest this year.
