Christie Lane Industries secures $30K from state

NORWALK — Christie Lane Industries recently received $30,000 in state funds to serve Norwalk-area clients in a new way.The service organization secured the money from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities to further fulfill its mission, which is "to increase the earnings and status of individuals with developmental disabilities."This is achieved by the Norwalk-based nonprofit paying people for work, helping people find jobs and investing money and time in local community projects."Specifically, the grant required agencies to perform a comprehensive assessment of current status, and then an action plan about what changes (the organization) is going to make to transform itself," Christie Lane spokesman John Schwartz said. The nonprofit's "strategic plan is already addressing these impending changes, and it is our intent to fulfill the requirements of the grant and use the money to work toward one or more of the action steps relating to our plan."Schwartz further elaborated on the grant's purpose."Ohio is pushing to make sure that agencies are ready for these changes so that the people agencies, like Christie Lane Industries, that are here to help aren't hurt or left without the services that they need."The organization constantly seeks feedback from locals for whatever they want to see changed in this area of the community.
