Huron's tricky turkey situation

HURON — It's a wild turkey surprise neither Bugs Bunny nor the Tasmanian Devil ordered.But it's definitely driving some Huron residents loony.Within the past month, local police officers have received at least three calls regarding turkeys running rampant around town.At times, they've even "terrorized" community members, with one person even shooting an arrow at a turkey, which survived the "attack.""There are three or four turkeys that have taken up a residence in a wooded area of the city," said Huron police Chief Robert Lippert, adding they're often seen near Huron High School's practice football field.Officers are working with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife to trap and relocate these large birds."If people encounter the turkeys where they feel threatened, they can call the police," Lippert said. "They are aggressive in the sense that they don't want to be bothered. I have a feeling someone is feeding them and making them feel comfortable. But they are wild animals, and you should't be feeding wild animals. They are a nuisance.
