Michael Jay Johnson

SANDUSKY — Michael Jay Johnson, 29, Sandusky, "My Son," unexpectedly departed from us, on April 20, 2021, in California. Michael was born May 17, 1991, to Patricia Ann Johnson in Sandusky and attended Sandusky City Schools, graduating in 2009. Always gainful employed and taking care of his family, after graduating from high school, Michael was employed at Kalahari Resorts, Sandusky, and American Stripping before locating to Louisville, Kentucky. Going to Louisville, Kentucky, to better his life for him and his family, he got a job at San Francisco Bay Brand. He returned to Sandusky — so he and his girlfriend could be closer to their families — where he was employed at BP. While a youth, Michael attended Calvary Temple and, in 2008, Michael was a part of the missionary team "Royal Rangers" that went to Romania to assist in doing housing. In Louisville, Michael and his family attended Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. And, in 2017, Michael confessed and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as His Personal Savior. In that same year, he was baptized. Michael loved hanging with his seven daughters. They were definitely Daddy's girls. He also loved spending time with family and friends, playing baseball, basketball, cooking, especially barbecuing, and fishing. He loved working on cars as a teenager, so well that he was a part of Pinewood Derby. His love for cars inspired Michael to attend Universal Technical Institute Trade School in Chicago, Illinois, to become a professional on cars and small engines. Michael leaves to cherish his loving memories: mother, Patricia Ann Johnson, Sandusky; sister, Whitney Johnson, Sandusky; girlfriend, Crystal Rogers; seven daughters, Ja' Zoê, Khristanilla, Jh'Nya, Kazmeir, Kashmeir, Na'Ziya and Ka'Hiya, all of Sandusky; aunts and uncles, Leon (Tawna) Hughes, Sandusky, Robert (Rhonda Thomas) Hughes, Lansing, Michigan, Valarie Johnson Sandusky, Antonio Johnson, Detroit, Michigan, Rorshall (Edger Loring) Johnson, Lansing, and Andrew Johnson, Sandusky; special cousins, La Toya Johnson, La Teshya Johnson, Kiara Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Alida Johnson and a host of other cousins and a special nephew or niece, soon to come; special aunts, JoAnn Grissom, Effie Dace and Debbie Vladiff, all of Sandusky, and Mary Swain, Kingsport, Tennessee; and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Annie Pearl Johnson; grandfathers, Lonnie L. Johnson and Michael Redding; great-grandmothers, Ollie Mae Pou and Irene Johnson; and other relatives. The family would like to give a special thanks for the unconditional love that many of you have offered us as we travel through this most difficult and trying time of our life. Family and friends may call on Monday, May 10, 2021, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at, noon, in New Life Church, 6511 Milan Road, Sandusky. The Rev. John Adams will officiate.
