PREP ROUNDUP: Maci Smythe throws 1-hitter in 1-0 win over Huron

BELLEVUE — Maci Smythe threw a one-hit shutout to lead Bellevue to a 1-0 win over Huron on Tuesday in a matchup of two of the best softball teams in the Sandusky Bay Conference. Bellevue's Jillian Sumser went 2-for-3 and scored the game's only run in the sixth inning. Sumser singled with two out and scored on Kyra Henney's double. Smythe struck out eight and allowed only a second-inning double by Kennedy Camp. The hit came with one out and Camp was stranded on second. Eliza Maloney struck out 12 for Huron (15-6). The game was scheduled for Huron but moved to Bellevue due to wet conditions, so the Tigers were the home team on the scoreboard. Bellevue (17-4 overall) is in first place in the Lake Division while Huron is tied with Margaretta and Edison atop the Bay.
