PIB to search for new administrator

PUT-IN-BAY — Put-in-Bay officials recently announced they will begin searching for a new village administrator.During a recent public meeting, village council members unanimously agreed to begin advertising for the job. Put-in-Bay police Chief Steve Riddle has been working in the position on an interim basis.Riddle, hired by Put-in-Bay Mayor Bernard "Mack" McCann in 2015, served previously as the full-time administrator prior to being named police chief earlier this year. Riddle, who began his law enforcement career more than 30 years ago, previously told the Register he believed he could be an effective police chief and village administrator.It's not clear if Riddle was unable or unwilling to continue his duties as village administrator, or if council simply decided it needed another person in the position.Riddle did not return multiple calls and messages seeking comment Tuesday afternoon. Former council president Joe Cerny recently told the Register he planned to apply for the job. "I travel often and I get tired of it," Cerny said.
