Outdoor storytime at the park

PERKINS TWP. — The sun was shining, and there was a nice breeze for outdoor storytime at Strickfaden Park. The Sandusky Library organized small group sessions for storytime at the park's pavilion on Tuesday. It was the first outdoor storytime of the spring. Carly Rogers, a youth services librarian, was excited to get back to in-person programing. "I continue to do the virtual programming, but it's a totally different ballgame to be interacting with in-person children as opposed to imaginary ones," she said. When Rogers makes videos at the library, she pretends she's with a group of children, and she receives responses from them. During outdoor storytime at the park, families sat together at picnic tables as Rogers read two books, played interactive music and led different activities. Children also received a bag of crafts to put together at home. "It's great to get out of the house and enjoy being with people in a safe way," said Olivia Krumwiede, who attended the program. "I can't wait for more events because (the kids) had fun and I had a lot of fun too." The Sandusky Library is working on more outdoor programming for children throughout the spring and summer.
