BGSU Firelands students can get vaccinated

HURON TWP. — BGSU Firelands students can now be vaccinated against COVID-19. This month, state health officials seek to vaccinate any Ohio college student who wants the vaccine. Higher education institutions around the state are receiving single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccines to combat the virus. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is approved for anyone ages 18 and older. At Bowling Green State University's main campus in Bowling Green, free, student-only Johnson & Johnson vaccination clinics are scheduled for Thursday and April 22 at the Perry Field House. The first one occurred last week. Anyone attending BGSU Firelands in Huron Township and the downtown Sandusky campus is eligible to get the vaccine offered at BGSU's main campus, university spokesman Michael Bratton said. "At this time, BGSU Firelands students can travel to main campus for vaccines or schedule an appointment through the Erie County Health Department to receive a vaccine closer to campus there," he said. Students will receive registration information and the student code via their BGSU email account. They will be required to use the registration code in order to sign up for the single-dose vaccines and will need to show their BGSU student ID upon check-in at the vaccination clinic. BGSU isn't forcing its students, faculty and staff to be vaccinated but encourages them to do so as soon as possible, a university news release states.
