Mylander Foundation giving out grants

The Mylander Foundation is now accepting applications from tax-exempt organizations for grants which will be awarded by the distribution committee in May. The distribution committee will have approximately $350,000 available that may be awarded to local charitable organizations classified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) organizations. Washington Row, Sandusky, OH 44870 • Online at mylanderfoundation.org In order to be considered for a May grant, completed applications must be returned to the distribution committee chairman by no later than April 16. The Mylander Foundation was established in 1987, donating about $7.4 million since then to qualifying local nonprofit organizations. Each year, distributions are made to Firelands Regional Medical Center, Grace Episcopal Church, Sandusky City Schools, Bowling Green State University, the City of Sandusky, Firelands Symphony Orchestra and A.T. Still University. Part of the Mylander Foundation's yearly distribution is made by a distribution committee to various charitable, religious, educational and governmental organizations. The committee is composed of officers, members and officials of various local charitable, nonprofit and governmental organizations. Since the inception of the Mylander Foundation, the distribution committee has awarded monetary grants to organizations for the purpose of sponsoring specific projects; purchasing needed equipment and supplies; and providing educational materials to benefit people served by Erie County-based tax-exempt organizations and the students in the schools of Erie County. Bio blast: George Mylander George Mylander, a native and lifelong resident of Sandusky, was a public servant who, throughout his life, supported and advocated for many local organizations and institutions that he held near and dear to his heart. George Mylander created the Mylander Foundation in 1987 because he believed that the private foundation concept provided the most positive, farsighted vehicle for the intelligent underwriting of the projects and programs of local charitable, educational, civic, governmental and religious organizations and institutions in a manner that would not be limited to his own lifetime. Just as George had envisioned, since his death in 2016, The Mylander Foundation has and will continue to provide support to the projects and programs of local charitable, educational, civic, governmental and religious organizations and institutions.
