BASEBALL: Huron starts season with decisive sweep of Western Reserve

HURON — Cole Parker drove in four runs and had a triple in Game 1, while Zach Murray went 3 for 3 with a double in Game 2 to lead Huron to a sweep of Western Reserve on Saturday, the first day of the high school baseball season. The Tigers started their season with 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning and went on to win 12-2 in five innings before completing the sweep with an 11-4 victory. Parker, who went 4 for 5 at the plate in the doubleheader, drove in six runs in the sweep and got the pitching win in the second game. In the opener, Huron starter Chris Hand struck out nine WR batters in three innings on the mound. The Tigers had 19 hits and committed just one error in the doubleheader.
