Come in to Huron's new carryout

HURON — The prospects of owning their own business, which specializes in bait, lured spouses Amy and David Armstrong to pursue a new venture. Fulfilling their dreams, they transformed the old Huron Drive Thru, sitting vacant for more than a year, and remodeled this South Main Street property into a modern-day convenience store. Now known as Armstrong Drive Thru, open seven days a week, the full-service convenience store offers traditional items found in these types of locations, such as wine, beer, sodas, snacks, sandwiches, cigarettes and lottery. The Armstrongs also placed an emphasis on providing bait and tackle supplies, namely live minnows, red worms, maggots and more along with fishing equipment. "From what we know, we're the only bait shop in Huron," Amy said. Amy and David, the parents of four children, felt both comfortable and proud making the investment in their hometown: • David: On the Huron (boat) ramp, it's bustling and a fishing destination. Our vision was to make this a destination not just to serve the fishermen but everyone. • Amy: We're excited for the tourists and boaters that will be coming through here in the summer, but we're also really excited about serving locals. When people come by and say they're happy that we are open, that motivates us.
