School Notes: Margaretta, Huron, Port Clinton, Clyde-Green Springs

CLYDE Last week, Clyde High School's Teen Leadership Corps wrote notes for each high school band member to congratulate them on their concert. HURON Damon Hitchcock and Chris Fluke from Valley Ford of Huron recently donated masks to Huron Schools. Curriculum director Julie McDonald accepted the masks on behalf of the district. CASTALIA • Margaretta Middle School student council members organized and collected Easter basket items for Project Noelle, a local nonprofit. The Easter baskets will be given to local children affected by the opioid epidemic. • A group of Margaretta's seventh-grade students recently attended Impact Leadership training to understand what it takes to be a leader. This year's representatives for Impact Leadership 2021 were Ayden Miller, Alizabeth Stanley, Keiygan Morris, Hunter Grahl, Jermane Kennedy, Bren Smith, Wilke Thoene, Cassidy Lane and Ellyse Schaefer. Note: For the photo, students were allowed to remove their masks since the activity was off-campus and had parent permission. PORT CLINTON • Port Clinton High School named its top students in the class of 2021 who will graduate May 22 with summa cum laude honors. To earn the summa cum laude designation, students must have a 3.65 GPA or higher and complete 11 or more honor point courses. Seniors who have earned summa cum laude honors are Elliot Auxter, Connor Bechtel, McKenna Boling, Ethan Carpenter, Isabella Craig, Hannah Cross, Alaina Dackermann, Steven Holly, Karah King, Olivia Jackson, Rebekah Koehl, Jameson Mullens, Michael Recker, Noah Shaw, Kierstin Sherer, Spencer Spieldenner, Claire Snyder and Averie Webb. • Members of Port Clinton Middle School's builders club volunteered two Saturdays at Bistro 163 in Port Clinton. Students learned about preparing food and beverages, proper set-up and clean-up of a restaurant, taking orders and serving guests. The purpose of the builders club is to provide opportunities for working together in service to school and community, develop leadership skills, strong moral character and encourage loyalty to school, community and country. The club is sponsored by the Port Clinton Kiwanis members. Teacher Kerry Fial is the club's adviser.
