Update: City worker suspended after arrest

SANDUSKY — A city employee was arrested Wednesday on a warrant out of Connecticut alleging he attempted to entice an underage person to engage in sexual behavior using the internet, assistant city manager John Orzech said. Greg Voltz, 34, a planner with Sandusky for about five years, was taken into custody at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Orzech said. He's being held at the Erie County Jail pending extradition. "He's been placed on administrative leave pending further review," Orzech said. "We should have more information about the circumstances (today)." City manager Eric Wobser said Orzech will be overseeing the administrative process going forward. Sandusky police were contacted by police in Newtown, Connecticut, Wednesday morning and told about the arrest warrant. It is a felony-level charge, Orzech said, that appears related to child enticement of a sexual nature. Sandusky police verified the warrant, which has a nationwide radius, through the LEADS system before arresting Voltz. Voltz is from Vermilion and attended St. Ed's High School in Cleveland. The Register made a records request for his personnel file and also made a records request to Newtown police seeking a copy of its investigative report.
