Lange Trust's legacy carries on

The Norbert A. and Marion Cleaveland Lange Trust of the Sandusky Library has had a unique and remarkable presence in the Erie County community for the past 48 years. The Lange Trust has presented over 200 events, free of charge, to the residents of Erie County thanks to the generosity of Norbert and Marion Lange. These two Sandusky residents, a chemistry teacher and a library trustee, gave this endowment to the Sandusky Library to administer for educational and cultural presentations. The library has faithfully executed this request with no added expense to the library's budget. The Lange Trust's plans for events came to a sudden halt in 2020, as did most plans in the country. The concerts in the performing arts had to be sidelined, so the focus shifted to the visual arts. The Lange Trust was able to continue the sculpture exhibit in Sandusky's downtown public parks, thanks to the partnership with the city. The eight sculptures, all of which are available for purchase, are on display for one year. This is the third year that the Lange Trust has sponsored this temporary exhibit for the community. A sneak peek of the future plans for the Lange Trust: • Even with the pandemic's shutdown, the Lange Trust committee pursued talent and art to present when the time became available. • Because we present most of our concerts at the Sandusky State Theatre, we are eagerly awaiting the rebuild of that venue for those presentations; however, in the meantime, we hope to possibly have some outdoor surprises, such as several European suspended art pieces in the parks, a few mini-concerts and a celebration for the library's 125th anniversary.
