Down on the Farm

GENOA –– Hundreds attended the annual Easter Bunny Hayride and Baby Animal Tour on Saturday at the Country Lane Tree Farm in Genoa.The visitors were able to tour the farm, hold baby animals, take pony rides, ride in a hay wagon pulled by a tractor and visit with the Easter Bunny.The Bowlander family is the fifth generation that has owned and operated the farm. The farm's buildings were built in 1883. The same family operated the farm for the last 126 years and it is still a working agriculture and animal farm.Tours of the farm included a hands-on experience for school age students and parents alike. Children were able to get up close and personal with the animals that include chickens, ducks, peacocks, pigs, cows, ponies, llama and many more. Also included is the milking of a cow. An area is set aside for the children to hold baby animals such as goats and bunnies and to have their pictures taken.The farm features an Educational School Farm Animal tour during the spring and summer, the fall season features a 10-acre pumpkin patch, a free hayride, corn maze and a haunted hayride through the Christmas Tree Farm.The Easter Bunny Hayride and Baby Animal Tour will take place again on Saturday, April 15. Admission is $10/child ages 2 or older and $5/adults. Country Lane Tree Farm is at 3525 N.
