Lakelynn Design Boutique comes to Sandusky's shores

SANDUSKY — Abbie Fox was born, grew up and still has several family members who live in Sandusky. So it only makes sense for her to continue planting roots in the city. Fox, the owner of Lakelynn Design Boutique, recently opened her second shop, smack-dab in downtown Sandusky, 128 E. Market St., beside the Feick Building. She'll still continue operating her first and other Lakelynn storefront, in Port Clinton. "I wasn't sure I was going to be able to expand as quickly as I did, but when I saw the old Faroh's chocolate store was for rent, and the work that's being done on East Market and on the corner of Columbus, I had to jump on it," said Fox, referencing the ongoing construction at the Hogrefe-Cooke Building. "The nostalgia of the building makes me love it even more and with the up-and-coming additions to downtown, East Market Street should start seeing more foot traffic, too," Fox said. Besides being a businesswoman, Fox, who today resides in Port Clinton, considers herself a local history buff. For more than 45 years, her dad and grandfather ran Samko's Carpet Service on Columbus Avenue. Samko is also her maiden name. "Sandusky has always been beautiful," said Fox, a 2003 Norwalk High School graduate. Now "it's just being uncovered, rediscovered and revitalized. The water sets the mood, but the community and businesses can make it absolutely extraordinary. I'm just so excited to have the opportunity to be a part of that." With its apparel, Lakelynn Design promotes body positivity and encourages "all body types to shop our store," Fox said. "We proudly sell a wide range of sizes from small to 3X." The shop also carries decor such as witty signs and "rad" lake merchandise, along with drinkware, men's grooming needs, humorous gifts, jewelry, accessories, shoes, home goods and more. "Don't let the word 'boutique' discourage you," Fox said. "We are known to be a reasonably priced boutique with a little something for everyone. We would love for you to come in and discover something new." Lakelynn Design is open Thursdays and Fridays (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.), Saturdays (11 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and Sundays (noon to 5 p.m.)
