Sandusky man arrested following weekend police chase

SANDUSKY — City police on Tuesday caught up with a resident who led them on a foot chase over the weekend. A Sandusky police report details the circumstances that led them to arrest Bradley W. Bloom.On Saturday, police documented an allegation that Bloom, 32, had assaulted his ex-girlfriend. She told police that she had asked Bloom to move out of their shared residence following their recent break-up. On Saturday, around 4:30 a.m., she told police she ran into a bathroom to get away from him. But Bloom, apparently upset upon noticing that she was recording their argument on her cellphone, threw her to the ground and held her by her wrists.Police prepared three charges against Bloom, who had left the residence before they arrived, on behalf of the victim.A supplemental report indicates that police later responded to a complaint, from Bloom, that his ex-girlfriend had locked him out of their residence and refused to return his belongings. Upon learning that police had an outstanding warrant against him, and that he would be taken to the Erie County jail, Bloom attempted to run.An officer grabbed him by his sweatshirt, and, when he continued to resist, attempted to use a Taser on him. Because Bloom struck the officer's arm as he deployed the Taser, the officer, rather than Bloom, was temporarily incapacitated.The officer chased him to a parking lot on Jackson Street, where Bloom stepped into a vehicle and drove off. Police received a tip later that Bloom was near Pearl and West Madison streets; he again ran from officers who caught sight of him.Bloom was booked into and released from the Erie County jail on Tuesday, according to jail records.He is being charged with assault, domestic violence and disrupting public service in relation to the initial complaint.
