Thomas E. 'Bird' Schoewe

TOLEDO — Thomas E. Schoewe, 59, residing in Toledo and formerly of Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, February 12, 2021, in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Tom was born on March 28, 1961, in Sandusky to the late Richard Owen and Nancy Ruth (Fleming) Schoewe. Tom graduated from Sandusky High School in 1979, where he played and lettered in varsity golf and baseball. He was also a graduate of the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center of Toledo on June 17, 2019. Tom was employed at Operational Support Services in Findlay, Ohio. Tom loved all sports, but the Yankees were his favorite team of all time. He visited New York, a town he loved and visited both the Yankees' new and old stadiums. He was an avid golfer and found Mills Creek Golf Course to be a place dear to his heart. He would come home from Toledo and just hang out at the club house. Tom's biggest joy was his great-nephew, Brock. He attended Brock's football, basketball and baseball games. He was Brock's #1 fan. Tom is survived by his sister, Kathy H. "Shae" Brophy of Sandusky; brother, Jeffrey L. Schoewe of Sandusky; niece, Veronica (Nathan) Parker of Castalia; great-nephews, Brock and Isaak Parker and Travis Stigall all of Castalia; special cousin and friend, Greg Avery and special friend, Cheryl Bahnsen of Sandusky. In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, and his brother-in-law, John R. Brophy. Friends may call on Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, from 4 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 6 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Pastor Wally Gilbert will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in Castalia Cemetery, Castalia.
