Miracle makes beauty its mission

PERKINS TWP. — The Justice League features superheroes teaming up to save the universe. In a similar fashion, back on Earth, a group of strong-willed women — who wonder and empower one another each day — made it their mission to make any and every client they encounter more beautiful than ever before. Miracle Suites Hair Beauty Spa and Lounge serves as the headquarters for a group of seven like-minded entrepreneurs convening under one roof. Located at 6203 Milan Road (U.S. 250), between Danny Boy's and Manny's Sports Tavern, it's open every day but Sundays. And, just like Justice League members, each person working under the Black-owned wellness center features a specific and unique skillset complementing the entire squad: • Marion "Nesy" Martin-Koonce runs Miracle Hair Designs, which specializes in healthy hair, varying styles of haircuts, color and relaxers. • Her daughter, Morgan Johnson, operates The Lounge, an intimate event space where people can host baby showers, bridal parties and more. • Martricia Wilson oversees Martricia's Miracle Massage, where she offers therapy-, medical- and relaxation-based massages. • Amy Solomon takes charge of Tru Textures, a natural hair styling/care outfit. • Ja'lenn McGee supervises Tinderheads, which caters to children's hair. • Brittany Robinson manages Essense of Grace, which focuses on lashes and eyebrows. • Stephanie Brown Mayfield conducts business at Stephanie's Fine Designs and Alterations, providing tailoring and alterations with an emphasis on bridal wear. Each entrepreneur — who refers to themselves as the "sisters on 250" due to their close bond paired with the storefront's address — boasts much experience in her respective field and, collectively, believed coming together in a single hub would benefit them and their customers. "This was just a great opportunity for all of us," said Martin-Koonce, who co-owns the entire business with Wilson. "It was just the perfect situation." The women noted how a place offering so many services in one location doesn't exist anywhere in or around Sandusky, but there's a demand for such a business. "It's going to succeed, first of all, because of our work ethic," Johnson said. "But also we are able to provide clientele for each other. If someone is coming to see my mom for hair, she can refer that person for a massage. We're all about helping one another."
