Meanwhile, the president avoided the topic of escalating war and stuck to options of an "honorable settlement" of the Southeast Asian conflict.25 years ago, 1992: Wind-whipped flames marched down a row of Bimini Drive boathouses, destroying about 40 summer and year-round homes and boats worth millions. Firefighters battled heavy wind and snow for three hours to contain the fire. Some 15-20 structures were destroyed in the blaze, across the street from where a $750,000 fire leveled 10 boathouses, 20 years ago. The cause of the fire was unknown.10 years ago, 2007: Daniel Bogden, 51, U.S. attorney for Nevada, formerly of Huron, got an unexpected phone call from U.S. Attorney Executive Office informing him he was to resign. The call was both shocking and unexpected. Bogden was one of eight U.S. attorneys fired in the middle of a political battle between a Democratic Congress and Republican executive branch.
