PREP ROUNDUP: Berger's '3' at buzzer gives Clyde win at holiday tourney

ROSSFORD -- Caden Berger sank a long 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Clyde a 52-51 win over Cardinal Stritch in the first round of the Rossford Holiday Tournament on Tuesday. Berger took a pass from Jaden Cook, who was double-teamed at half court. Cook found Berger open and the senior connected to send the Fliers (3-2) into Wednesday's 7 p.m. championship game against host Rossford (6-0), which rallied to defeat Perrysburg 54-48 in the second semifinal. Cardinal Stritch (1-2) trailed 41-31 after three quarters but took a 51-49 lead on two free throws by Jhaiden Wilson with 4.6 seconds to play. Cook took the inbound pass and hurried up the court before finding Berger for the game-winner. The Fliers won despite being outscored 13-2 from the free-throw line. Cook led Clyde with 22 points. Wilson finished with 27 for the Cardinals. WRESTLING Edison wins Boardman tourney YOUNGSTOWN -- Max Hermes and Casey Barnett won individual titles to lead Edison to the team title at the Spartan Holiday Invitational at Boardman High School. Barnett was named Most Valuable Wrestler. Marcus Medina, Kohen Horvath, Shad Slone, Logan Lloyd and Duke Hermes each finished second. Perkins goes 3-1 in duals PERKINS TWP. -- Perkins won three out of four duals on its home mat, defeating St. Mary Central Catholic, Genoa Area and Firelands. The Pirates fell to Olmsted Falls. The Pirates' Billy Smith defeated Firelands' Ruben Pina-Lorenzana 5-4 at 106 pounds in a matchup of state-ranked wrestlers.
