Local tattoo artist shatters world records

[toutembed=hcoj87] Winning awards is nothing new to Robin H.M., nor is breaking world records.In 2011, the Sandusky-based tattoo artist broke the Guinness World Record for "Longest Tattoo Session by a Team of 2," with partner Jeff Garton. She tattooed Garton for 48 hours and 26 minutes.After her record was broken by a other tattoo artists, H.M. vowed to bring the title back home.In addition to being a mother of four, owning and operating her shop, 546 Tattoo Studio, and tattooing at conventions across the country, H.M. began training roughly a year ago in preparation to again break the world record."It was very much a group effort to get me prepared," H.M. said "I trained seven days a week, sometimes 2-3 times a day. I'm all about mental strength and willpower."Along with working with personal trainers Lexi Oliver and Marisa Pump, and nutrition specialists Megan Clere of Live Aloha Nutrition, H.M. also underwent sleep deprivation training with her crew at 546 Tattoo.On Saturday, Feb. 18, she again was triumphant, after she and Garton completed a tattoo session of 53 hours and 10 minutes.But striving to inspire, H.M. decided one record was not enough.After completing her record-breaking tattoo session with Garton, H.M. tattooed others, to break the Guinness World Record of "Longest Tattoo Session on Multiple People."H.M. tattooed 17 individuals over the span of 72 hours and 26 minutes and officially broke the record on Feb. 19.Though both records were broken at the Pittsburgh Tattoo Expo: Bleed Black and Gold, H.M. attributes much of her success to her hometown of Sandusky."I'm proud of home, I'm proud to be from Sandusky," H.M. said "I believe you can make anything in this world happen from where you are."Tattoo collector Jeff Garton and artist Robin H.M. pose for a photo at 546 Tattoo in downtown Sandusky on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017.
