Wilson promoted to top county position

PERKINS TWP. — Erie County commissioners appointed a longtime local government employee to a top administrative position. During Tuesday's public meeting, they promoted Matt Wilson as the new human resources director. He replaces Nancy Ostrander, who retired on Monday, ending her eight-year tenure in the position. Commissioners said she served "admirably" in the role. Wilson has spent the past 14 years with the county's human resources department. Before then, he worked as a branch manager for a temporary staffing firm. His duties in the new role include overseeing union negotiations, negotiating health care plans for employees and dealing with personnel matters, all issues he's assisted with in the past. In addition to his normal job duties, Wilson also coordinates an annual holiday gift drive in which county employees donated gifts to The Meadows at Osborn Park's nursing home residents. "Matt is a great guy and has been thoroughly prepared by our former HR administrator to take on these important tasks for Erie County," commissioner Matt Old said.
