Clyde man dies in crash

ADAMS TWP. – A Clyde man is dead and a Huron man was critically injured after a two-vehicle Thursday night crash in Seneca County. The Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at 9:15 p.m. Thursday on Ohio 101 near milepost 9. James Kear, 54, of Clyde, was driving a 2012 Ford F-150 southwest bound on Ohio 101. Mark Myers, 49, of Huron, was driving a 2019 Chevy Suburban northeast bound on Ohio 101. Kear allegedly traveled left of the center line and struck Myers head-on. After impact, Kear's truck came to rest on the west side of Ohio 101, and Myers' SUV came to rest on the east side of Ohio 101. Kear was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries. He was transported from the scene by the Seneca County coroner to Tiffin Mercy Hospital. Meyers was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and had to be extracted from his vehicle by mechanical means. He was flown by medical helicopter to St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo with critical injuries. The crash remains under investigation. It hasn't been determined whether alcohol or drugs could have been involved. Assisting on scene were Green Springs Fire Department, Seneca County EMS, North Central EMS, Life-Flight, Ohio Department of Transportation, Seneca County Coroner and Wilcox Towing.
