Grand jury returns seven indictments

PORT CLINTON — The Oak Harbor man recently accused of leading police on a high-speed chase was indicted by an Ottawa County grand jury. Jeremiah Mincer, 39, is facing a 17-count indictment.His charges include multiple felony counts of aggravated vehicular assault, attempted aggravated vehicular assault, felonious assault and failure to comply. He also faces misdemeanor charges of assault and operating a vehicle under the influence, according to a news release from the Ottawa County Prosecutor's Office. The chase began at about 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 and reached speeds of 100mph on Ohio 2. Several agencies in Ottawa County joined the chase. Mincer allegedly swerved his vehicle at officers during the chase. In one instance, Mincer's car reportedly struck a Carroll Township police cruiser. The crash caused serious injuries to one officer. Others indicted include:• Bryant L. Boyd, charged on two counts of drug trafficking, one count of drug possession and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. • Dokate A. Cromley, charged with one count each of drug trafficking and permitting drug abuse. • David England, charged with multiple misdemeanor counts of possession of dangerous drugs and one felony count of drug possession. • Karl R. Bame, II, charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. • Sara Elswick, charged with one count each of drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. • Aaron B. Montis, charged with one count each of burglary and receiving stolen property. An indictment is a formal charge and doesn't denote guilt or innocence.
