No trick-or-treat at Cedar Point this year

SANDUSKY — The COVID-19 pandemic has forced area children to miss out on another yearly tradition. Cedar Point announced it would not partner with the city of Sandusky's parks and recreation department this year to allow children to trick-or-treat at the park during the week. "Due to the current COVID-19 protocols in place, the event at Cedar Point is postponed until 2021," park spokesman Tony Clark said. But parents will have plenty of other opportunities to take kids trick-or-treating. Sandusky is hosting Downtown Trick-or-Treat at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, and citywide trick-or-treat at 5 p.m. Visit sanduskyregister.com for more trick-or-treat times. Cedar Point's weekday trick-or-treat is different from the Tricks and Treats Fall Fest, which continues every weekend until Nov. 1. The pandemic forced the park to dramatically reduce its operating season and make several new safety protocols, including reducing its capacity. The fall festival replaced the popular HalloWeekends event this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival, however, has also proven to be a success. Cedar Point reinstituted its reservation service after attendance increased in late summer and early fall. For the first time since opening in July, the park neared its reduced capacity limit on Oct. 10 during the festival.
