Raid in Bellevue in child porn investigation

More stories from Bellevue PoliceBELLEVUE — The Ohio Attorney General's Crimes Against Children unit with the assistance of the Bellevue Police Department raided a home in the 300 block of Union St. Thursday.Bellevue Detective Eric Burt confirmed the search warrant was served around 10:30 a.m. Thursday and involved child pornography. The investigation involved the downloading and sharing of child pornography."The investigation began a couple of months ago for the BCI Crimes and Children unit. After they teamed up with us, I assisted in the investigation," Burt said. "At this moment, it involves a single person."Many items were removed from the home and taken into evidence, including electronic equipment, a hard drive and DVDs. Some of the items were found in the open around the home, while some were hidden.Burt referred further questions regarding the allegations to the Ohio Attorney General's Office.During the raid, police also found drug paraphernalia and a small amount of possible narcotics. A second search warrant was obtained to seize those as possible evidence.All items were taken to an area crime lab for further investigation and testing.The suspect was not immediately taken into custody but was advised they would be contacted at a later date and charges would be forthcoming.Burt declined to name the person at this time but said the person is not someone who is known to police.More stories from Bellevue Police
