Sandusky man arrested for carrying, raising 'toy gun' in park

SANDUSKY — Sandusky police arrested a city man after an officer spotted him walking and holding what appeared to be a long-barreled black handgun.West Jefferson Street resident Clinton O. Scott Jr., 42, faces a fifth-degree probation violation felony for the offense.The incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday in Huron Park, where Scott kept raising the perceived pistol up and then lowering it back down, according to a related report.Sandusky police Officer Kristopher Parsons described Scott's actions as "unsafe while in a public place."Parsons ordered Scott to stop at gunpoint. He then noticed something amiss."I was able to see that his gun had an orange tip on it," Parsons noted. "I immediately holstered my duty weapon. Clinton said, 'It's a toy gun.' It should be noted that Clinton is 42 years of age, and this occurred at (about 12:30 a.m.) in the morning."Parsons asked Scott why he was carrying a toy gun.
