Slip-N-Slide Day planned for Sunday

SANDUSKY — Community members can attend the Daddy & Me Slip-N-Slide Day, scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Sandusky Bay Pavilion on Meigs and East Water streets near Battery Park Marina.The event, co-sponsored by NexXt Level Fit Academy and Lena Brows & Beauty Bar, returns for its second year."This project stems from personal experience of being raised with the lack of fatherhood and then knowing and understanding the struggle, the pain and the effect it causes with the absence of a father," according to an event statement. "So, in honor or Father's Day, we have a yearly event for fathers and their children, and/or for those that have stepped in and taken a father's responsibility, be it an uncle, cousin, brother, foster parent or (whoever). We want to honor them and set a date just for bonding between father and child. The goal is too hopefully encourage absent fathers to become present."Anyone can the free event. The entrance fee is a canned good, which will be donated to a local nonprofit. Anyone attending is encouraged to bring a towel.
