Roger D. Bentley Smith

NORWALK — Roger D. Bentley Smith, 53, of Norwalk, passed away Friday evening, Sept. 18, 2020, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 26, 1966, in Port Clinton, Ohio, and was a graduate of Norwalk High School and EHOVE School of Practical Nursing. He was a licensed practical nurse for more than 10 years with Ohioans Home Health. He was known to make people laugh and make them smile. He lit up a room whenever he entered and enjoyed animals. He is survived by his parents, Sue and Gary Smith of Monroeville; life companion, David Pifer of Norwalk; brothers, Jamie (Gretchen) Pounds of Indiana, Michael (Dee) Pounds of Norwalk and Gary (Gerri) Smith of Pickerington, Ohio; sisters, Renee (Doug) Miller of Willow Wood, Ohio and Rose (John) Radank of Hornsfelt, Germany; and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his aunts, Kate Scott and Peggy Boyd. Friends may call 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk. Attendees will be asked to wear a mask and follow certain safety and social distancing guidelines. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, at Woodlawn Cemetery.
