Yvonne 'Binky' Monegan Easterling

TOLEDO — Yvonne "Binky" Monegan Easterling, 64, of Toledo, transitioned from this life and was welcomed into her eternal rest on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020. Yvonne, affectionally known as "Binky" by all who knew her, was welcomed into this world on Dec. 27, 1955, in Sandusky to the union of the late Mathis and Sophia Jane (DeLaine) Monegan. Binky started her educational journey at Hancock Elementary School and was a 1974 Sandusky High graduate. Her first position of employment was that of a secretary, under Mrs. Erciele Oglesby, at Erie Metropolitan Housing. She worked there until she decided to move to California in the spring of 1978. While living in Oakland, California, Yvonne met the late Raymond C. Easterling. They returned to Sandusky to wed on June 2, 1979, in Ebenezer Baptist Church. Yvonne went on to further her education at the University of Oakland, where she received her associate degree in business administration. She was employed by The Farmers Insurance Company and devoted 20 plus years of service until her retirement. In May of 1999, Yvonne returned to Sandusky, and eventually relocated to Toledo. In her spare time, she loved cooking, knitting, crocheting and most of all sewing. Unable to sit quietly and enjoy her retirement years while living in Toledo, Yvonne decided to enhance her sewing skills and so she enrolled in the Institute of Design and Tailoring College, where she received her certificate in advanced sewing. Our Lord blessed Binky with a very kind and loving heart coupled with an infectious smile, which showcased her beautiful deep dimples. She was baptized, raised in the church to love her Lord and Savior, where she worshipped with her family at Ebenezer Baptist Church, and there she remained until moving to California. While living there, she attended the House of Prayer for All People in Vacaville, California. Upon returning to Ohio she attended and worshipped at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church and Indiana Baptist in Toledo. The Good Lord had allowed her to be a kindhearted and sincere friend to many and for that, she was always so appreciative. We give thanks to each and every person who has taken the time and traveled this journey with her, for the road of life is both rough and smooth, and the Lord knows Binky had her share of both during her lifetime. She understood that it is people like all of you who helped to make her journey in this life bearable. She could not have made it without the Good Lord, her family, and friends. Yvonne leaves, not to mourn, but to rejoice the many shared precious memories, her only brother, Ernest (Perceil) DeLaine of Charleston, South Carolina; sisters, Terry Kinnard of Chicago, Illinois, Helen Qualls of Castro Valley, California, Delphine Prophet of Toledo, Ohio, Nora L. Monegan of Sandusky, Ohio, Maggie (Jewel) Haralson of Fremont, Ohio, Loveonia Monegan and Linda Monegan both of Sandusky, Ohio; special nephew and niece Kenny and Renee Kelly of Atlanta, Georgia; special cousins, Blaine Miller Family of Cleveland, Ohio; lifelong childhood friends, Karen A. Ellerson, Lois Aaron, and Diane Phillips; two special friends, Mrs. Lois Pettis of Sandusky, Ohio, and Gloria Graves of Toledo, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other friends known and unknown who were instrumental during her life. Yvonne was preceded in death by her father in 1980; mother in 2013; husband, Raymond, in 2014; sister, Barbara Lanier in 2017; brother-in-law, Lawrence Kinnard, in 2012; and brother-in-law, Bill Prophet, in 2015.
