Report: Man threatened to 'kill' woman

VERMILION TWP. — Authorities arrested a Huron man after he made a statement that he would "kill" a woman. At about 12:20 a.m. Thursday, Erie County sheriff's deputies arrived to a home within the 5600 block of Cleveland Road E. (U.S. 6) in reference to a 911 call. A dispatcher said she could hear a woman yelling at someone to "get away from (her)." Upon arriving, one deputy spoke with a woman, who claimed Christopher Shawn Crews, 42, threatened to "kill" her. The woman, according to the deputy's report, said, "Christopher entered the residence, via the second-story window, pushing over the washing machines and punching a hole in the door." While interviewing her, another deputy noticed the woman had bruising underneath her right eye. The woman then said, "Christopher had struck her las week, however, she had not called about the incident." The deputy then noticed the woman also had bruising on her right arm. Crews downplayed the incident, stating the woman is "on muscle relaxers and fell down," which caused one of her bruises. Deputies shortly thereafter charged Crews with a felony-level domestic violence offense. They also levied a misdemeanor charge of threat of domestic violence against him. He was then booked into the Erie County Jail. As of late Friday, he remains locked up on a no bond charge. Crews has a history of domestic violence issues, according to the report. A deputy indicated he has two prior such convictions.
