Planet Play lands in Milan

MILAN TWP. — When spouses Jason and Rachel Pelz needed advice on their newest career venture, they bounced the idea off their trusty adviser. So what did their 3-year-old daughter, Lacey, say? "She loves it," Rachel said. "We bought her a bounce house for her first birthday and saw all of her friends wanted to use it, too. And it just took off from there." Jason and Rachel, who also own Jump Around Party Rentals, recently opened up their second business, Planet Play. Their new indoor play center is in Avery Commerce Park off Milan Road (U.S. 250). "There is nothing in our area for the younger kids, those under 3, to play or where they can have birthday parties," Rachel said. "So we wanted to create something for them here. We also wanted to associate our outdoor business with it, so that's why we have bounce houses here." Planet Play offers bounce houses; a closed-off toddler play area filled with climbing structures, interactive activities and sensory toys; a track for scooters, small bicycles and tricycles; along with some coin-operated games. COVID-19 mandates restrict Planet Play in some fashion. For instance, all visitors must wear face masks, and its capacity shrunk from 400 people to 100. The Pelz family emphasized its going above and beyond in their sanitizing practices, frequently cleaning all equipment. Planet Play is planning for a grand opening event, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 26.
