Police: Man uses prosthetic leg to assault woman

SANDUSKY — Police arrested a Sandusky man Saturday for allegedly using a prosthetic leg to assault a woman. Richard Wilson Sr., 63, of the 2000 block of Foxborough Circle, was charged with domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor, following the incident, according to a report on file with Sandusky police. A man called police from Firelands Regional Medical Center Saturday afternoon to report his mother was assaulted by Wilson. The woman told police that officers responded to their home Friday night due to Wilson becoming disorderly. Once the officers left, Wilson reportedly became upset and started throwing items around the home. Wilson also threw a prosthetic leg at the woman and struck her on the left side of her head, according to the report. Wilson then allegedly grabbed the woman by her left arm and threw her to the ground. He later reportedly tried to strike the woman with a prosthetic leg again, but she was able to block the attack with her arm, according to the report. Police noted how the woman's wrist was swelling. After speaking to the victim, police responded to Wilson's home to get his side of the story. Wilson ultimately denied the allegations and became agitated with the woman for "getting him in trouble," the report stated. Police arrested Wilson and booked him into the Erie County Jail. Officers also contacted the Safe Harbour domestic violence shelter in Sandusky.
