Michael D. Holmes

LAKESIDE-MARBLEHEAD—Michael D. Holmes, M.D., 68, of Lakeside Marblehead and McCormick, S.C., died Tuesday, June 20, 2017, in Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton.He was born in Sandusky in 1948. He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1966. He received his B.A. degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and his medical degree from The Ohio State University Medical School.In his lifetime he enjoyed golf, tennis, bridge, and following the Cleveland Indians. In retirement he resided in Savannah Lakes Village in South Carolina.Michael was preceded in death by his mother and father, Margaret (Dale) and Ernest Raymond Holmes.He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; three children, Matthew (Amy), Trevor (Stacy), and Abigail (Loic); and one brother, John. He also enjoyed being with his seven grandchildren.There will be a memorial service in McCormick, S.C. in the fall.Donations may be made to Ohio Wesleyan University, Feeding America, or the McCormick United Methodist Church in South Carolina.Gerner-Wolf- Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
