Battery Park plan afoot?

Regarding the Viewpoint editorial, "Battery Park's bright future," Aug. 26, 2020, you called it "the old park which has been unchanged for decades." You made it sound like a dilapidated property. I'm a senior citizen and part of my daily routine is visiting Battery Park. What I see is a well managed, clean, well maintained, quiet marina, pool and park. The Rengel family has done a great job and have been able to keep the marina filled to capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic. The maintenance crew, Justin and his entire staff work hard to keep everything operating smoothly. Let's give them some credit. I'm not against change, and the Marous Development Group has done a great job on all the downtown projects. But, being a construction and development company, I'm worried there might be a plan in the works. Take our Battery Park now — and then the old City Hall (222 Meigs St.) — to build more hotels and condos. Thank you to the Rengel family and all the Battery Park staff. Good luck in your futures.
