75 years ago, 1944: Germany's Anna Beisch won the title "Biological Phenomenon" and an Iron Cross, according to Nazi reports, by riding inside a robot bomb during early testing. Gazing through a periscope she discovered faults which defied other tests. Her nickname came because she was unaffected by tremendous air pressure, but was severely injured in her flight.50 years ago, 1969: The federal government is doing a grossly inadequate job of protecting consumers from dangerous drugs, contaminated foods and other hazardous products. He was 47. Chandler, sports director for WEWS-TV since 1984, died in his suburban Rocky River home.10 years ago, 2009: The city of Sandusky is trying to keep positive by sending out "City Chat," an e-newsletter focused on positive happenings in the community.
