Motorcyclist killed on U.S. 250

SANDUSKY — A man is dead after his motorcycle was struck by a car near the Milan Road (U.S. 250) overpass on Wednesday. The crash occurred at about 12:55 p.m. on Milan Road and Chalet Drive, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. A 2011 Honda Ridgeline driven by Rachel Mock, 36, of Sandusky, was stopped at the stop sign on Chalet Drive waiting to make a left turn onto Milan Road. A 2007 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Toledo resident Austin Fletcher, 25, was driving north on Milan Road. The Honda allegedly failed to yield while turning left and pulled in front of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to collide with the Honda, the release states. Fletcher, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center, where he later died, according to the release. Mock and a passenger in her vehicle, Trayc Baker, 26, were wearing seatbelts and weren't injured. Troopers said alcohol and drug use do not appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Erie County Sheriff's Office, Sandusky police, the Sandusky Fire Department and Kasper's Automotive and Towing.
